NOW HIRING

To apply for any of the positions listed, please email MIaction@thelitribune.com.  The Subject line should contain something like this: (RE: JOB- Drama Editor).  Just tell us a bit about yourself and your experience in the context of the position you’re applying for, if you have any.  If you want to get involved, but don’t see a position that fits for you, email us anyway.  We haven’t come across a person yet with the desire to help that we couldn’t accommodate.

Editors

Drama, Fiction, Art

Responsibilities: Editors are responsible for reviewing all submissions, including collaborative review with readers and editors. Attending weekly workshops regularly.  Communicating with editors through email or otherwise.  Attending a monthly editors meeting to discuss thematic decisions and collaborative efforts between genre editors for publishing selections.  Intermittently writing editorials for publication.

Staff Writers

Community Journalists

Responsibilities:  The Litribune will post subjects of interest for Community Journalists to grab assignments from.  Journalists will be responsible for taking assignments on a semi-regular basis (monthly to quarterly). Journalists may also initiate their own assignments at will.  Because our publication is limited, not all stories will necessarily be published in an issue (though, most will).  Those pieces that fall into the overflow category of sufficient quality will be published on our webpage and submitted to the Rapidian.

Columnists

Responsibilities: Columnists are responsible for producing editorial columns quarterly for printed publication and/or monthly for web publication.  Columns must be consistent in their voice and quality. One-time editorials and essays are always accepted as submissions.

Design Team

Illustrators, Graphic Designers, Photographers, Artists of Any Kind

Responsibilities: Design Team members are responsible for meeting monthly and collaboratively developing aesthetic concepts for quarterly publications as well as applying these concepts with original design. Also, occasionally developing promotional materials.

Production Staff

InDesign Techs

Responsibilities: InDesign Techs will responsible for developing layout and book construction in the pre-production stage.  Time-consuming work will mostly occur quarterly.

Construction

Responsibilities:  Many Litribune publications include hand-assembled elements.  The Construction Team is responsible for the physical assembly of the quarterly publication in the post-production stage.

Promotions Team

Street Team

Responsibilities: Street Team is responsible for distributing flyers, posters, and word-of-mouth promotions.  Updating social networking sites.  Assisting with events (set-up, staffing, etc.) Members who promote an event will get in free.

Program Directors

Responsibilities: Program Directors are responsible for organizing and coordinating events, fundraisers, and other community programs.  This involves communicating with venues, artists, and editors on a regular basis.

I talked to Dan about getting involved-(this is Dan McCartney of Who Hit John?’s wife) by way of writing and/or sharing my experience in the local art community.
I am wondering what type of submissions you still need writers for, and how many articles you wish your writers to produce per month.
Also, are you seeking nonprofit status? I am looking for a volunteer opportunity to meet the requirements of the honors program at KVCC, and if my involvement could qualify. (not a must for me to get involved)
Really nice website- lots of good information. I will try to make it out to the benefit tonight, but if I don’t, have a great time and I hope you make lots of cash.
